this biomaterial research began as the dissertation project for the Design for Change MA program at the University of Edinburgh. the project presented a product design end-of-life methodology where the biodegradable characteristics of bio-based plastic alternatives were harnessed and used in place of petrochemical plastic electronic housings. the decomposition of the bio-based plastic would allow for access to the interior circuits, components, and metals which could then be reused or at least appropriately recycled or retained.
